Popularized in the early 2000s by artists, such as Basement Jaxx and Mr. Oizo, electro has become a mainstay amongst modern-day music listeners. Whether you prefer indie electro, electro house or one of its other subcategories, the multifaceted genre tends to have something for everyone.
With that in mind, we’ve crafted a hand-picked selection of seven electro songs that you have to listen to today. Tune in below to hear the sounds of Carpenter Brut, Uppermost, Drone Flesh and many more.
Beep (Overthrill Remix)
Produced By: A Girl & A Gun
Why You Should Listen: Remember A Girl & A Gun? She’s the electro-punk queen behind songs, like Move! and Vive La France. Bearing a stunning resemblance to Ed Banger’s Uffie, the American musician has had a prolific career over the years.
Now, we shift our focus to her blockbuster release, Beep, which received superb remix treatment from electro act, Overthrill. It’s got that Justice vibe, but with a twist. Think you’re ready? Tune into Beep (Overthrill Remix) below.
Focus
Produced By: Uppermost
Why You Should Listen: Focus is one of Uppermost’s more recent releases, fusing tense basslines and smooth pianos with driving kits and rhythmic leads. Really, the 3-minute track is nothing less than amazing, treating our ears with drops of musical perfection.
If you enjoyed Uppermost’s One LP, then you’ll definitely dig this.
Hey
Produced By: Drone Flesh
Why You Should Listen: When Drone Flesh last appeared on The French Shuffle, he delivered nu rave smash hit, Petrified. Now, the Zurich-based DJ/producer is back with another headbanger, titled Hey.
Simply put, Drone Flesh’s Hey is a four minute concoction of wicked sounds and sinister noise, and we’re certain you’ll love it. Owl Vision, Valerna and Drivepilot fans will really enjoy this one.
Mustang
Produced By: J.A.C.K
Why You Should Listen: Though J.A.C.K’s Mustang is several years old, the french electro single hasn’t gone unnoticed. Blending funky guitar riffs with distorted leads, the magical release sees the talented frenchman unveil a slew of disco-powered sounds. If electro duo, Justice, had a distant cousin, J.A.C.K would be it.

Starship
Produced By: Loze
Why You Should Listen: French DJ/producer, Loze, burst onto The French Shuffle back in 2015, impressing us with a stellar remix of Depêche Mode’s single, Personal Jesus. Since then, the skilled musician has gone on to feature several more times with tracks, including Tort, Criminals (Loze Remix), Atlantic Disco and more.
Today, however, we set our sights on Loze’s Starship: a funk-charged, electro release with relaxed melodies and serene synths. Think Simian Mobile Disco meets Uppermost. Available for download now via Zoradisque.
Tesla (The Toxic Avenger Remix)
Produced By: Corvad / The Toxic Avenger
Why You Should Listen: Toxic is back – well, at least in this feature. Simon Delacroix, also known as The Toxic Avenger, catches our ears once again, this time unleashing a slow-electro remix of Corvad’s track, Tesla.
What’s most interesting is that the sensational single is packed with retro-electro sounds and vintage energy that is ever-so rare amongst contemporary artists. In less than a few minutes, Delacroix manages to twist and mangle orchestral trinkets, futuresynth elements and robust bass lines into a musical masterpiece.
Turbo Killer
Produced By: Carpenter Brut
Why You Should Listen: This list wouldn’t be complete without an appearance from Carpenter Brut. Known for his synthwave style and cinematic inspiration, the French musician initially got our attention with his high-octane remix of Le Couleur’s Vacances de 87.
Fast forward to today – we’re tuning into rock-influenced release, Turbo Killer, which is filled with loads of energy, brawny noises and futuristic artifacts. Listen to Tesla Boy, Waveshaper or Pylot? If so, you’ll really like this one.
