Back in 2010, Ourvais the Australian-born musician released his The Some Funk EP independently. It blends French House and Experimental Electronic music together in perfect harmony.

Bruit 1, Bruit 2 and Raw are the Experimental tracks on the album, they kind of remind us of Mr. Oizo’s earlier tracks like Flat Beat and Monday Massacre with a concoction of fresh beats and synths. Some Funk is the crown jewel of the EP, Ourvais has used the sample from ‘The Breaks’ by Kurtis Blow superbly to capture the substance of French House that we all know and love.

All in all The Some Funk EP is a great debut from Ourvais, however Some Funk is an absolutely amazing track worthy of being with some of the all-time greats in the genre!
