Quentin Gauthier, the man behind a number of aggressive releases on Trash Family Records and Dga Fäu Records, is back in action. Known as Q.G. to many, the Parisian producer just recently launched new single, Stranger, and it’s everything we wanted to hear and more.
What begins as an airport recording (no, we’re not joking) quickly builds into an inevitably refreshing disco-electro jam. To be honest, the three minute track has all of the elements of a contemporary, French touch track: vintage drum kits, resampled disco slices, 80s inspiration, and exceptionally catchy rhythms.
No wonder many people say “the French just do it better.” We’re starting to think that those people are right.
Oddly enough though, the newfangled song maintains an eerily similar style to that of Ed Banger staple, Mr. Oizo. But, it’s completely okay because Gauthier has his own way of pulling it off.
Do the finger bass riffs do it for you? Or maybe, the intermingling of the funky lead and chopped vocals? Either way, the Frenchman is nothing less than talented and we can’t wait to hear what’ll come next.
Check out Stranger now and add it to your music collection. Out now via French record label, Dga Fäu Records.
