Launching a brand new album and announcing a U.S. tour in 2016 was not enough for Breakbot, as they are set to be among the artists featured in the upcoming compilation Star Wars Headspace. Breakbot’s track, Star Tripper, will be among fifteen featured in the release set for digital outlets on February 19th.
Much in the vein of Tron: Legacy Reconfigured, the album will incorporate iconic Star Wars dialogue and sound effects with original production from electronic artists all over the galaxy. One time Ed Banger Records contributor Flying Lotus is highlighted on the release, as well as A-Trak who remixes a track from Shag Kava (a collaboration project between Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J. J. Abrams and Cantina theme producer Lin-Manuel Miranda).
It should come as no surprise that Breakbot was more than willing to participate in this project. In a recent Ask Me Anything on Reddit, Breakbot noted that among his favorite theme park attractions at Disneyland was Star Tours, a Star Wars themed attraction which first opened in 1987.
The album is curated by iconic producer Rick Rubin, who in addition to co-founding Def Jam Records and American Recordings also provided a remix of Justice’s On’n’On in 2012.
