Naito Returns to Roots with “Boogie Woogie”

For you older listeners, the term “Boogie Woogie” – a musical blend of ragtime, blues and rockabilly genres – may be familiar to you. Characterized by a mixture of upbeat funk, rock and groovy rhythms, the fusion genre was developed in the late 1800s, eventually rising to popularity in the early 1900s.

As with every genre though, contemporary musicians have dished out their own spins on these musical categories. And, that’s exactly what San Diego-based producer, Naito, did with new single, Boogie Woogie.

In less than four minutes, Naito takes listeners on a funk journey, reviving some of the stylized sounds of the French house era. Think future funk meets disco house in this one. And, let’s not forget those resampled, soul-pop vocals – they’ll keep you dancing all night long.
