Mayer Hawthorne’s neo-soul project, Tuxedo, is well-known to viewers at The French Shuffle, with the group regularly featuring over the last two years. Singles, including Number One and Without Your Love, have truly made waves, enticing listeners with soulful sounds and jazz-funk vibes. Today, however, the duo’s work takes a different turn, with nu disco demon, Traveler, taking on their hit track, Do It.
Released roughly a year ago, the skillful remixer’s work injects a sliver of tropical tones and lighthearted energy over Tuxedo’s original. From a creative aspect, there’s a clear transition in style from vintage noise to a more contemporary mood.
What we really appreciate about this disco-charged rinse is its grasp of Tuxedo’s core concepts, but also its slight shift in musical flavor. Well done, Traveler. Well done.
