10 whole years. 10 years since we’ve seen a release from the boys at Cassius. But, the wait is finally over. Introducing their fourth studio album, Ibifornia, heavily centering around the tropical sort of theme, along with appearances from the likes of Cat Power, Pharrell Williams and Beastie Boys’ very own, Mike D.
The album bursts open at the seams with, The Missing. The track in hand treads lightly, featuring lyrics from Onerepublic’s Ryan Tedder. What’s even cooler is the fact that when the song released as a single, we were able to witness a fully interactive music video for one of the first times.
Beastie Boys’ Mike D also makes an appearance twice on the record, with the track Action being one of the more notable songs on the album. It’s a fresh take on the funk genre, along with Cat Power’s distinctive vocals which make it even more legendary than it would be without the inclusion of the seductive musician.
Other amazing tracks include the likes of The Sound Of Love, Hey You! and even the title track itself, Ibifornia. It’s a breath of fresh air entirely, compared to what we’re used to.
