Here’s a little story for you: Spotify’s “Discover Weekly” playlist is a randomly selected list of tracks that are given to you every week, based on what you’ve listened to recently. I’ve been listening to a lot of Erol Alkan and Boys Noize as of late – In particular BN’s latest release, Mayday.
So the playlist is updated and I’m greeted with Erol Alkan’s rework of “The Bay” by Metronomy and I wondered how I’d never heard of this track before? Well long story short, this is now one of the best songs I’ve heard all year. Why you may ask?
The buildup to this track is superb, absorbing the lyrics of the original track on a etherial background of noise. Suddenly, the track explodes into life, with it’s catchy basses and primitive, yet illustrious flows and movements. Check it out below if you haven’t managed to hear it before.
