Kitsuné artist, Pyramid, just turned in a stellar remix this week, giving Foals’s single, Birch Tree, a massive overhaul. With atmospheric synths, analog bass lines, and motion picture energy, the Frenchman swiftly reworked the indie rock track into a galactic, retrowave jam.
Below, find out why the French producer chose to remix Foals’s release:
“The first time I saw Foals playing live was such a slap,” says Pyramid. “The last time for their new album as well. These guys give off something massive and rough, but in the same time pretty aerial.”
The musician continues, describing his approach behind the remix:
“I’m glad to have remixed Birch Tree, which means a lot of stuff. Tried to picture it a bit like a secret place with a powerful signification. A place where spirits can meet. I tried to take the soul of the original track and to make it more personal & cinematic – mixing some smooth arpeggios with rough bass lines and heavy drums.”
