Atrey, the intentional outsider, claiming to be “one of the last direct descendants of the French golden era of electronic music,” has conjured up yet another sensation with his newly released single, Bodytalk.
The track begins with a bass line that screams – or should I say hoots and grunts – the legendary, deceased pop icon Michael Jackson, resembling the Hip-Hop/New Jack Swing work that surfaced during the Bad and Dangerous eras.
It doesn’t escalate much from beginning to end; it’s a beautifully simplistic, casual, sexy rhythm that never grows tiresome. And, the rest of the Bodytalk EP maintains that very same approach, perfectly suited for vintage electronic music tastes.
